Baden-Wuerttemberg is the third largest state of Germany. Since its foundation in 1952 the population has increased by around 4 Million people. Situated in the heart of Europe, Baden Wuerttemberg borders on France in the West, on Switzerland and Austria in the South and on three other states Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse.

Wine culture


The German state Baden- Wuerttemberg stands for performance, quality and inventiveness. It is not only known as the home of Mercedes Benz and Porsche, quality viniculture has a huge tradition as well. The home of Dyade52 wines is blessed by nature and thus high in soil just like the vines prefer it.

One specialty is the hillside situation and the steep slopes which have been cultivated for centuries.

The climate is mild and diverse at the same time. Just the change of heat and cold, sun, rain and wind form the individual character of German wines.

The growing area Wuerttemberg

With a red wine share of 80 % Wuerttemberg is the area with the highest red wine output in Germany. 71% of the vineyards are situated in hillside situations and steep slopes. With a partial steepness of 20% they need the highest effort in nurture. Nearly 15000 corporate organized winegrower families cultivate 75% of the vineyards. Wuerttemberg is characterized through its specific variety of Lemberger and Trollinger which are almost exclusively grown there. Lots for the German viniculture important new breedings like the Dornfelder are from Wuerttemberg.

The growing area Baden

Baden is one unique wine growing region of Germany. Through the mountains of the Odenwald in the North, the Black Forest on one side and the Vosges on the other side, Baden is specially protected. Here amongst the Oberrheinischen Tiefebene, prevails the sunniest and hottest climate of Germany – A climate you would expect in Mediterranean regions only. The mild climate and the good soil make Baden to one of the best wine growing areas in Europe. Wine and food of highest quality as well as pleasure and hospitality are indicators for the way of life in Baden. "The region is a Mecca for gourmets."
